What If It Rains

The weather in Central Florida is always unpredictable. With the party season extending from the end of summer , theres always the possibility of a Mickeys very rainy Halloween Party.

Tickets are nonrefundable, even in the case of less than magical weather.

Usually, Disney will try and delay parades or performances during the party rather than cancel them, but it can still happen. If a lot of the special experiences are canceled on the night you’re there, it’s not a bad idea to inquire with guest services as to whether there are any options to try again on another night.

Arrive And Leave At Strategic Times

The event starts at 7 p.m., but those with a ticket can get in as early as 4. Do not show up at either of these times. Thats when lines to get in are the most jam-packed. We arrived around 5:30, and while we did wait in a small line , it was manageable. Crowds swelled noticeably the darker it got, and by 8 the whole park felt more congested.

Grab a map on your way in, and take note of when the parades, shows and fireworks are happening. Theres the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, shown several times per night at Cinderellas Castle. The fireworks show, Disneys Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, happens once a night, usually at 10:15. And the Boo-To-You Halloween Parade happens twice, usually at 9:15 and 11:15 p.m. The best time to leave the park is about 15 minutes before these things happen, when parkgoers are concerned with finding the best viewing angle and not crowding the exits. Both the parade and the fireworks are specially themed for this event, so if youve never seen them, theyre worth sticking around for. But keep in mind you dont need to be on Main Street to see the fireworks: You can also see them from one of the boats that shuttle guests across the Seven Seas Lagoon back to the parking lot, and from the three resorts surrounding Magic Kingdom they even beam the shows music through the speakers at those resorts.

Sample Itinerary 1 Late Night Entertainment

The first itinerary pushes all the entertainment to the end of the night:

• 4:00PM to 7:00PM Pre-party

• 7:00PM to 10:15PM Characters / Rides / Other Party Activities

• 10:15PM Not So Spooky Spectacular

• 11:15PM Boo To You Parade

• 12:00AM Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular

The big pro to this is that you have from 4PM to 10:15PM to do whatever you want. Thats six hours, 15 minutes straight, at least three hours and 15 minutes of which will be filled with party activities.

There are several cons to this. First, youll spend the most time in line because guests tend to want to get things like rides and characters done earlier rather than later so they can leave. The short lines will be at the end of the night, while youre watching shows.

Second, if you want to watch a show twice, if youre running late, or if bad weather strikes against your scheduled showtime, youre just out of luck. Youre totally counting on catching the very last showtimes of the parade and the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular.

Best Rides At Halloween In Disney World

Of course, the Haunted Mansion is a no-brainer but what else is good to ride during Walt Disney World Halloween Party? If you are staying in the Magic Kingdom, probably the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train ride and maybe even space mountain. If you have a park hopper and can make it over to Hollywood Studios, the Tower of Terror would have to be at the top of the list of all Halloween Rides anywhere.

Magic Kingdom Halloween Decorations 2022

As we mentioned above, you can find Halloween at Disney World 2022 decorations beginning as early as the first week of August! Not only can you spot the famous Mickey pumpkins on the light posts stretching from Town Square all the way to the central Hub. In Magic Kingdom during Halloween, you can also find autumnal garland strung along the buildings of Main Street USA. Also lining the second story of Main Street, be sure to spot the ornately carved pumpkins to set a spooky mood.

Halloween Merchandise And Food

There are many new foods and items this year that are only sold during the special event.

Some of the items are for the more adventurous eaters such as the Bayou Burger which is an all-beef patty, jalapeño pimento cheese, crispy andouille sausage and garlic pickles.

Theres also more standard park fare, like specialty Mummy Mickey popcorn buckets and pumpkin spice cupcakes sold at Main Street Bakery. Check your park map for descriptions and locations around the park.

There are also two dessert parties you can reserve only during the party:

• Mickeys Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Partywith Plaza Garden Viewing for an additional $99 for guests ages 10 and older $59 for guests ages 3 to 9.
• Mickeys Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace for an additional $114 for guests ages 10 and older $69 for guests ages 3 to 9.

Both dessert parties offer reserved viewing spots of Disneys Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks show, special desserts and beverages. The main difference between the two is the fireworks viewing location. The Tomorrowland Terrace viewing location is elevated and the Plaza Garden viewing area is on ground level next to the Main Street hub.

On 26 select nights now through Halloween night, October 31, Magic Kingdom will host this spooktacular after-hours party from 7 p.m.midnight.

Disney villains take center stage in 2014 with the Villains Mix & MingleLive on Stage castle show, and Club Villain, an all-new nightly character dance party experience that takes over the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon in Frontierland. Mischievous villains will also be available for guests to meet all night long in locations throughout the park.

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween party features Disney characters donning their favorite Halloween costumes, while partygoers navigate treat trails and candy galore throughout the Magic Kingdom themed out for happy haunts. Partygoers can show their Disney Side and dress up in favorite costumes and explore classic Magic Kingdom attractions as well as the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Eerie entertainment features the twice-nightly Mickeys Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, led by the infamous Headless Horseman, at 8:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. And HalloWishes, a green-and-orange fireworks spectacle complete with Disney villains, caps the evening festivities at 9:30 p.m.

Figure Out Food Before You Get There

This was our big mistake the night we went. Caught up in all the excitement, I forgot to plot our food journey . Not everything is open during these special ticketed events, and I learned that the hard way as I was racing through Tomorrowland desperate for a place to order chicken fingers. We started off strong with some plates offered only at this event, like the Pain and Panic Hot Dog from Caseys Corner, topped with sweet and spicy onion relish, sriracha mustard and spicy cheese-flavored snacks. I grabbed a Spellbinding Fried Pie from the Golden Oak Outpost, basically a pocket of dough filled with buffalo chicken, mozzarella and blue cheese. Thats right next to Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, where we got an Almond Corn Cake: almond vanilla cake dipped in white, orange and yellow chocolate and topped with candy corn. But we spent too much time walking and eating at various locations, and by the time we went to Fantasyland for our final meal, some restaurants were closed. And, keep in mind, some are closed the entire event because they act as trick-or-treat outposts, like Pinocchio Village Haus. When in doubt, load up at the front of the park, then make your way to the other attractions. And bring snacks.

Classic Attractions Get Halloween Twists

If you do want to ride some attractions during the party, Id suggest putting the most unique offerings at the top of your list.

Four popular attractions in The Magic Kingdom get their own party costumes. My top picks are Space Mountain which runs in total darkness with a limited-time, more intense soundtrack and Pirates of the Caribbean which features live pirate actors both in the queue and on the ride.

Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor and Mad Tea Party also both get their own Halloween “twists” like special lighting and effects.

Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane attraction selections are not available during the party, so youll have to use the standby line for every attraction. However, if you enter right at 4 p.m. you could use Genie+ and/or Lightning Lanes for those hours until the party starts if you didn’t want to prioritize getting in line for characters.

Getting in line for Space Mountain or Pirates of the Caribbean right away is a good idea if youre not headed straight to a character when the party officially starts. Wait times are also notably shorter for the seasonal rides during the first parade and fireworks if you opt out of those.

After The Party Starts

• Watch the parade, but as long as the weather looks good, wait until the second one since its less busy, and you can do other things during the first one.
• See the fireworks
• Attend the shows they are exclusive to this party and cant be seen any other time of year
• Meet characters that are important to you
• Snag party-exclusive merchandise

Things you should not spend time doing:

• Eating you can get treats at many locations and there are some restaurants open, but dont spend too much time on that. Be sure to eat before the events begin, so you can spend your time doing other things.
• Doing things that are not exclusive to this party, which includes meeting some characters like those at Princess Fairytale Hall, and riding some rides. If youre attending on a busy night, focus on the exclusive things as opposed to things you could ride during the day.

Heres a sample touring plan for the party:

• 4:00 7:00 ride rides, eat dinner, or get in line to meet your highest priority character. If you want to meet Jack & Sally, get in line there right at 4 pm. If you want to meet Belle and Gaston, Pooh and friends, Minnie/Donald/Daisy, or Elvis Stitch, line up around 5:30 pm

Least Crowded Halloween Parties

People often ask about the least crowded parties and which days they should attend.

The fact is, the parties are way busier now than they were even just a few years ago.

It appears that Disney is selling more tickets, and with the party not being held for a few years, there is a lot of pent-up demand for it.

That being said, aside from the first couple of parties, August and September are still better options than October.

One caveat is that we always expect the first party and the parties right around Halloween to definitely sell out.
